2. Tapered Cavity

The portion of your fin box or plug where the fin fits into is called the cavity. LOKBOX is currently the only fin system using a tapered cavity which gives you a solid fitting fin every time. No sloppy or wiggling fins!

3. FinLok

The finlok is the stainless plate that keeps the fins locked into the LOKBOX. The finlok is designed to bend upon serious impact to your fins while surfing - in most cases ejecting the fin and sparing damage to the LOKBOX. The bent finlok can be removed from the screw, flattened out, and re-installed with a new fin. The finlok should always be screwed down tight!

4. Elliptical Shape

LOKBOX uses an elliptical shape that spreads out the load that your fin puts on the box. This box shape and the fiberglass over it gives the LOKBOX incredible strength.

LokBox offers versatility not found in any other fin system. After experiencing the system for the first time you will realize that a change of fin templates or an adjustment in fin position can have a profound effect on the performance of your board.

LokBox provides a solid attachment from the fin to the box via a tapered press fit, which insures that once your fins are properly installed and tightened you have the closest thing to a glassed on fin available.

Most other popular fin systems use a small Allen screw to secure the fin to the attachment cavity.  The screw can be easily stripped out and rendered unusable if over-tightened; tightened with a damaged Allen wrench; or tightened when debris such as granules of sand get into the screw, hindering the wrench from going in all the way into the screw.

The LokBox fin system uses the common flathead screw. This type of screw is very difficult to strip out or render unusable.  When tightening the screw force can be applied to secure the fin into the box with no slop or play between the fin and box itself. The result is a solid fitting fin that isolates the flex into the fin itself which is where it should be.

1. Adjustability

LOKBOX is an adjustable fin system, which means that you can adjust your fins forward and back from your shapers mark (neutral position) to change the way your surfboard rides similar to the way that tires can optimize the performance of a race car. By utilizing the adjustable features of the LOKBOX fin system you can fine tune your surfboard. Whether its getting the most out of your surfboard or fine tuning it for different conditions, LOKBOX offers you the ultimate fin system.

In most cases you can tune your board just by moving the rear fin(s).

Rear fin back: Moving your rear fin(s) back will stiffen the board, making it handle more speed and/or surface texture. This will be good for large surfers that feel they may be suffering drive when the fin(s) are centered in the neutral position. This is also beneficial for down the line or point-type surf.

Rear fin forward: This will loosen the board allowing it to turn on a tighter radius for quick direction changes. Good for lighter surfers that have difficulty turning their board with the fin centered in the neutral position. Also beneficial in glassy lined up conditions and/or short peaky beach breaks.
